David A. Sommers has been photographing his community for many years.

He has worked as a staff photographer for The Saginaw News covering thousands of events, usually on deadline.

As the paper entered the digital age David provided video news reports for the internet.

Prior to working for The News he was a staff photographer for The Dow Chemical Company providing photographic support for company researchers in addition to public relations support. He produced a photojournalistic employee magazine in addition to a weekly 30 minute employee television news program.

David is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a combat photographer in Vietnam. He also spent two years in the public affairs office of the Air Force Thunderbirds air demonstration team.

David is married with two adult daughters.
